I was looking around at a gun store and I found a Smith and Wesson 686 on sale used for 320 bucks and I think I'm gonna buy it but before I do I wanted to get some extra opinions about the revolver. Pros cons stories whatever. 0 -
Found a nice 4" S&W 686 at the Cabela's in Hammond and had to check it out.
The top strap showed no cutting, it had very little rotational drag line, the forcing cone was clean edged, the rifling was sharp, the cylinder locked up very tight, and the trigger break was crisp.
It kept saying "Take me, take me" in a wee small voice.
I felt sorry for it, and decided to give it a new home just out of charity.
I will need to see if its range voice is a bit louder than its store voice.
My backyard range is now calling "Bring it on".

I was cehcking out a few auctions for 686 and fould this parts one only thing Id want is the grips so np just send grips but why would this have to do to a dealer if its choped

That frame is not useable as is, and cannot be "readily converted" to a working firearm, so it is NOT a firearm, and NOT required to be shipped to a dealer.
If it came to me cut like that, it would NOT go in my bound book. It is scrap metal. If it came to me intact, and I destroyed it, the "disposition" side of the book would be notated "destroyed" and the date.

I agree that hack job isn't a gun but in the auction description said parts are to be shipped to a FFL.0 -

I prefer the standard checkered grips with the S&W logo.
Hate the pachmayr grips. They turn your hands black and don't look good at all. Look cheap also. To me real guns have wood stocks/grips.
