I understand Mexicans are only allowed to have .22 pistols, and no "military" rifle calibers. They may no longer be allowed to have any pistols at all, come to think of it. I think there's also a limit on the amount of ammo one person can own. I recall the story a few years back, of an American who went through the border unaware that a friend had put a couple of boxed of shotgun ammo in his trunk. He might still be in a Mexican jail, for all I know.

True story. The guy is out of jail thank God. He spent 6 months in a Mexican jail.
Came back to America and was told that his firearms rights were revoked.
Tough luck since he was an FFL and gun dealer.
His case went to the U.S. Supreme court about two years back. He lost.
Google it up for the grim details.
Year by year our firearms rights are taken away from us. A man is forever prohibited from possessing guns because he had two boxes of ammo in his trunk in MEXICO?
