The government has announced that if you're traveling by airline, coming into the country, that the government has the right not merely to verify that your laptop isn't a bomb, but also to go through your computer and look at what's on your hard drive. No warrant or probable cause needed. Below is a link that discusses this.

    the case in question was 100% LEGAL. the man was ARRESTED upon his entry into america because it was KNOWN that he traveled out of the country to engage in sex with minors, which is illegal. the man also had researched and planned his trip with his computer thereby making his computer a valid item to seize and search.
