Returned a dog today
Bout three weeks ago a sweet little beagle showed up at house. Tried to run it off and did not feed, water for several days. Can't stand to see animal go hungry so fed,watered. It had coller w/name phone#. Great, called and # disconnected. Checked phone book and name/number went back 4 years. Dang, hoped noone had died and dog turned loose.
Checked map and phone book address was LONG way from me, 20 miles or so. Loaded up dog and away we went. Found empty house. Double dang.
Caught a neighbor driving up and inquired. he said the guy had moved and his wife worked at a local business close to where I lived. Ah Ha!
Went to said business and told nice lady at desk I wanted to deliver a dog. She like to have jumped over counter!! I had found his wife.
They are building a house just a few miles from me and poor old Buster just got to wandering around and could'n find new home.
As an aside, some people had told me that he was so and so and kin to so and so but I have been away for so long. Anyway, I had some photos I had taken in National Guard camp at Camp Stewart GA in 1957. I had been told this was of his son. Turned out is was of his brother who had died several years ago.
Anyway, I delivered a dog, gave pictures to relatives and got promised a brand new beagle puppy if I want one. It just don't get no better than this. Tom
PS. Now my cats, which I have not seen for a week, can come in. T

My dad was at Fort/Camp stewart in Georgia. I was born there in the army hospital! He was not National Guard, He was regular army.0 -
