They should've issed the following statement.
"Sorry. You lost. We won. Stone-aged root-digging aboriginals don't stand much chance against folks who developed such radical innovations as The Wheel, and The Written Language, 10,000 years before we ever made it down here to your island. Evolution can be cruel. Assimilate or die off."

The Abo's are supposed to be our closest link to cavemen. They are fairly interesting to me as is the flora and fauna of Australia. Only there can we catch a glimpse at how vicious and cruel evolution really is.
The Intelligent Design folks think we were made from day one perfect in every way. Hogwash! Through millions of years, chance would take a species and try different mutations. If it was hard to kill, it would reproduce and spread, if easy to kill, it just died out and that mutation didn't reappear.
There are plants and animals there that thankfully exist nowhere else in the world. If the Abo's have survived this long living amongst things always trying to kill them, they probably deserve to survive.

what they forget to mention is that a hell of a lot of them were taken because they were being abused..and in a lot of cases it saved their lives....
even now in a lot of remote aboriginal communities if a half caste is born the tribal elders will take it from its mother and bash its head against a rock and then burn it. the cops know that it happens but they wont interfere because they get accused of being racist, and foreighners believe that they are racists for interfering with tribal life...they just dont believe that in this day and age that babys get murdered just because of the colour of their skin.
they should come here and get out of the cities and see what life is all about in the bush!.
there are 400 000 people who identified themselves as being aboriginal or of aboriginal descent at the last census, with the way they are killing themselves with drugs and alchahol whites dont have to kill blacks here to wipe them out anymore...they are killing themselves.
all the "apology" was about was making sure that they will get paid compensation, and that is the only reason.0 -
it may have saved some lives, but was that the reason their children were taken? if it would have been to "protect the children" then why were they completely isolated from their culture? they were made to grow up with no idea whatsoever about the culture or people they came from, or even write a letter to their parents, why the whityfication? plus, it started in the early 1900's and went up thru the 1960's, during which "protecting the children" was not in vogue. they didnt' care about that.
as for the argument that it's ok to destroy their culture and they must be assimilated, that's typical white man thinking. or, more succinctly, the Roman/German type of thinking that "white" culture is based on. Might makes right. People would say the Romans were so great because they marched all over their continent and conquered everybody.
well, they would be wrong. they pay no attention to whether those great conquerers were asshats or not. -which they were. that is what should make a people great, the value and quality of their culture, not whether they have the power to beat your army, raze your villages and rape your women. would you admire someone who can beat you up, because they can beat you up? that's what you're doing.
then you may say "it's for their own good", which may be true, but that's a completely different argument, one that should be considered first instead of blithely annhialating them.
if they really cared about the aborigines as a people, they would let them choose what they want to do. if they really cared about their own past wrongs, they would make reparations. you see what they're doing, so you can see they do care about them (now, anyways) but no they don't care about the rotten things they did to them already. that must be how it is with them.0 -

indeed some were taken just because they were black...and they were taken from their parents just so theyt could be handed over the the churches to be made into perfect slaves..in a lot of cases sex slaves...they werent even allowed to write a letter to their parents??? are you for real??...60% of aborigines cant read or write now, how do you think their parents were going to make sense of a letter back then?
as i said before, they are destroying their own culture far better than any white ever did, until 1967 if anyone, white or black gave alchahol to aborigines they were jailed!!..no exceptions...after 1967 they were allowed to drink as much as they wanted...and it has decimated their lives, the aboriginal population, and their culture quicker and a lot harsher than white law ever will.again as i said, at the last census there were 400 000 who identified themselves as aboriginal...it is financially worth while here to show that your great great grandmother was aboriginal, that is the only reason that there are so many...as for "real" aborigines, the number would be less than half that number!!
as for them trying to assimulate to white society, if they want their culture and their entire race to survive, they will do everything to stop that happening!

it is a fact of life that when whites came here it was to set up a prison colony, and when the prisoners were given their parole and eventually their pardons they turned to grazing(ranching) and farming, they worked as slaves for the crown, when they were working for themselves they worked hard, the aborigines werent needed or wanted for cheap labour, the only exceptions were as stockmen(cowboys) in the north of the country, therefore when aborigines speared a cow to eat the white land owners rode out and killed every man woman and child that they could find to punish them for "daring" to kill their stock.
it most likely explains why australia hasnt any problems with black uprisings here like every sub saharan country in africa has now...blacks just wer`nt wanted or needeed...until the late 1980`s it was law here that australia was "terra nullas" when whites came here....no people!!.who is to blame for that? in the early days, the british...it was their colony, but they conveniately forget things like that these days, now it is australias responsability to fix the problems created, and it will happen, but if foreighners interfere the majority of people here will resist, it is our problem, it it our place to fix it.
my great grand father was speared in the back by aborigines and died of blood poisoning..this was after him and 2 of his friends shared their tea, flour and sugar with a small family tribe...because of that should i hate all aborigines? of course not..it happened, blacks were killed by whites, and a lot of them were hung for it, should blacks hate whites because of what happened in the past, of course not, it happened in the past. it is now and the future that matters, nothing else.0 -
I'm not sure if that is a answer or just a rant but I wish you luck in living in peace both black and white, if it happens it will probably the only place on earth that two different peoples aren't in competition for power and land.
I would love to visit Austrialia, I wouldn't want to live there because of your anti gun mentality but I wouldn't pass up a oppotunity to visit.
