Passed Thompson and Huckabee yesterday
Drove from Baraboo WI to Denver in 15h45m yesterday -- a new record and no, we weren't speeding (well, we were, but I set the cruise to 4mph over the limit, I don't count that as speeding). We thought we made very impressive time on the drive out there 16h30m.
Anyway, as we were driving through Iowa on I-35, we passed Mike Huckabee and then we passed Fred Thompson -- right as Fred was on the phone with Laura Ingraham (I was listening to the conversation on the radio). Pretty cool, it even got my wife's attention.
I then suggested that I'd take one for the team if we passed HRC's bus. The Wife was very unsure if I was making a joke or not.

Never thought of that. Something did graze the top of the car on I-35, but it looked like a pheasant to me.
BTW, I don't say this to slam Paul, but the wife and I, on I-80 and I-35, saw a total of three signs for him. Today's caucus should be interesting.
Saw several dozen for Romney, and ONE for HRC (that had been shot at of all things), none for Obama.

Today will make or break Paul. They are predicting a surprise showing so we'll see. The likely outcome is that he slips back into oblivion.
Perhaps this is not the year to break the 2 party system.
Maybe we need broom-butt to bring us down the sewer further and be so bad that a recall election will be needed.0 -

The caucus system is a poor place for a dark horse to make a showing. The system is set up to promote the party's choices, and the caucus process deliberately marginalizes the lessor candidates. A good showing by Paul in Iowa will be a confirmation that his followers can over-represent themselves when necessary, and will in no way be a confirmation that he is gaining ground. It will be a good thing, because it will put him in a position to get his message out to more and more people, and can serve as a jump-off point, but it cannot be taken as reflective of his strength. Conversely, a poor showing in Iowa is to be expected if his 6% polling is accurate. Typically 15% is required to even be recorded, though I do not know how the specifics of the Iowa process.0 -

Once there is open borders a number of political parties such as they have in European countries will be permitted, until then it does not appear to be attainable.0 -

No absentee voting.
