Any Cheap Surplus Ammo Out there?

I like to target /tin can shoot cheap surplus. Several times I have loaded up on surplus before buying a weapon that could shoot it. The last batch I bought was 8 mm Mauser. Any new cheap surplus on the market or soon will be?

    Cheap ammo is gone..... they just mark the surplus ammo up by whatever they are marking the new ammo up by.... so when new goes up 20% surplus seems to go up around 20%.

    Depends on what caliber you shoot. 7.62x54 & 5.45x39 are the only deals out there right now.

    Even if you don't have guns in those calibers, now is the time to stock up on them.

    That communist bloc handgun military surplus ammo (7.62x25 I believe) seems to be plentiful and still cheap. I believe Sportsmansguide has it for about 10 cents per round. I don't know what handguns shoot it but I believe I have seen one or two models for sale for about $250.00 or less.

    i remember a long time ago..sometime in the 1980`s i saw a good deal on 7.62 ammo..it was 1 cent a round if you bought 10 000 rounds or more...i got 10 000 rounds ...but i didnt have a rifle to fire them through...yep! next week i got a chinese sks 63....sometimes i`m a [:o)]...but it was fun to shoot...when they were imported to australia they couldnt have full auto capacity(federal law) where i live it wasnt a problem to have full auto and it wasnt an offence to import the selectors for them..wierd but it was legal to import them seperatly...an hour or so in the workshop and i had a fun full auto to shoot, and it was cheap....i forgot all about it until i read this post...man, the good old days! they were fun!!..i miss `em!..[B)]

    It isn't cheap but it is real good ammo. I know a guy who is getting 1 1/2 inch groups with this stuff. This is 8mm Yugo, 1980s manufacture.
    The days of a spam can of 8mm for 5 cents a shot are gone, I am afraid.

    Yeah, but I recently went to Cabela's and was shocked at the increase in .22LR prices. Remington for 17.00 for 525 rounds and Federal for 14.99 per 525 rounds. That is about a 50% price increase since I bought there in Aug. 2007. KInda scary.

    No such thing as cheap ammo anymore, just have to look around a lot and buy from the place that costs less than the others. 9mm now costs as much as .45 used to cost last year. I am suprised to find that .40 is several dollars more per box than .45 right now in several places. With surplus, 7.62x54r and 7.62x25 is mainly what is around, though twice what it was last year.
