How much ammo for a "rainy day"?
Just out of curiousity, how much ammo do you guys recommend keeping on hand in case of "troubles"?
I used to have a pretty decent supply (7000-8000, of various types), as ammo was cheap and I didn't have much else to spend money on at the time.
Having been poor for the last few years, I've shot out most of my supply, but I still keep a few hundred "just in case" rounds sealed up in an ammo can.......
Hopefully I can afford to stock back up at some point

In case of trouble? 2 loaded mags of 15 rounds each. As for all my ammo, it depends on when I buy and last time I went out. I usually have anywhere from 7500-15,000 rounds kicking around my place. 0 -

For "He Dog" Old USMC saying, goes like this: "It never rains on the rifle range" Charlie didn't take a "time out" during Monsoon season. Carry all the ammo and fresh water you can, clean your weapon(s) religiously, including mags- remember, most cops are re-issued fresh ammo twice a year (more for SWAT I'm told) and use the older issue stuff on the target range. I have a accurized Colt l911-A1 for both carry and under my pillow at night (knowing it's there, locked, cocked and ready to rock helps me sleep well at night) we have no children in the house however- also have a stashed 12 ga. pump with 22" cyl barrel loaded and with a full box of 00 buckshot, for that "rainy day" If outnumbered, like Jim Bowie at the Alamo, I'll shoot until my ammo is out, then use my Randall for CQC. Hope that rainy never comes however. 0 -

The irony is that I almost never shoot anymore, and I have so much ammo I pretty much never even reload these days. I do just like having the cool toys though.

Now that you bring it up, I need to find out what I have and get rid of some of the old stuff and get some new stuff. I've probably got ammo I don't have guns for. I need more guns. [:D] 0 -
I keep.
1,000 = 9mm
1,000 = .45
2,000 = .223
2,000 = 7.62X39
4,000 = .22
Really though I don't think one can ever have to much ammo. I keep alot of mags on hand also.0 -

I'd be willing to take all of it off your hands for $50 a can. That will double the amount of money you put into it so you can buy something else.0
