He only demanded $200,000, all in $20's. That's just 20-25 lbs. He could've jumped with much more than this.
He never coordinated with the crew to learn their position, meaning he actually had no idea at all where he was or what the terrain down there was like when he jumped.
He ended up going out the plane against a ~200 mph wind, during a thunderstorm while flying over a mountainous area with 100-150 ft. trees and wearing only a dress shirt, slacks, an overcoat and loafers.
He demanded two civilian type chutes with a reserve for each. The FBI was scrambling to locate this gear and grabbed them at a local skydiving club. No one noticed at the time, but one of the reserves was actually a non-functional dummy rig used for ground training. On the plane Cooper popped one of these reserves to scavenge shroud lines for tying his loot bag, failing to notice the one he kept to jump was obviously sewn shut.

Dang, I finally figured out what really happened to DB. After looking at the condition of that bill that is posted, I figured he had some of the bills in his back pants pockets and an old farmer shot him in arse on the way down with a 12 guage. Good chance that farmer has most of the money now (except the ones that flew out when he shot DB in the azz).[:D] 0
