M-4 Gas ring question?

Today we had some (SERT) training and afterwords I went to clean my gun before I put it back in its case in the trunk. Its a Bushmaster M-4, and after I took the bolt out I noticed for the second time the gas rings had lined where they were all in the same position instead of turned in 3 directions. My firearm functioned flawless, but I know this isnt supposed to happen. I sure dont want to risk having a failure in a real situation because of something so simple. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

  Don't worry about it. The "gas ring gaps must be staggered" rule is a myth. The process of even inserting the bolt in the carrier rotates them enough for the rifle to function.
  
  Try it for yourself. Line all the gaps perfectly, reinsert the bolt and fire away.
  
  They're reportedly capable of functioning with just one ring installed.

  I noticed that too, I don't have a clue why it happens or what to do about it. why would they tell you to stagger them in the first place if they're going to move around by themself and it doesn't matter anyways?? whatever. hope txs is right.
