Student Kills 2, Self at La. College

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 23-year-old woman killed two fellow students in a classroom at a vocational college Friday, then killed herself, police said.
The women apparently were shot in their seats in the second-floor classroom at Louisiana Technical College, Baton Rouge Sgt. Don Kelly said. About 20 people were in the room at the time, he said.
Officers ran into the building within four minutes of the first 911 call, which came at 8:36 a.m., Kelly said.
"There was mass pandemonium, people running," he said. "One officer - the first into the classroom - told me he could still smell gunpowder."
Police withheld the names of the shooter and the victims, ages 21 and 26, until their families could be notified.
The school - one of two LTC campuses in Baton Rouge and dozens around the state - offers classes in a dozen subjects including early childhood education, practical nursing, drafting and welding.
School administrators and campus police did not immediately return calls or e-mails.
Louis Davis, who said he was taking an automobile technology class Friday morning, said a teacher told the students to stay in class because there had been an incident, without adding details. Students had to stay in their classrooms for about two hours and were briefly questioned by police before being released for the day, he said.
Classes were canceled through Tuesday, and tentatively scheduled to resume Wednesday, said Jim Henderson, vice president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
"This is a tragic day for Baton Rouge, when you come to a learning institution ... and become the victim of a violent crime," Mayor Kip Holden said at the scene

I have said it before and say it again.... all these whack jobs choose schools as a great place for murder.... because all the people there are guaranteed to be unarmed victims. If carrying at these places was allowed than they whackos would not go and shoot the places up. They do it because it is EASY. 0 -

I took a autocad course at one of the two LTC campuses in BR one summer and I can tell you my skin color can get pretty dark, but the majority of the students were much darker than I.

It ain't about "skin tone"--it's about STUPIDITY! I've discovered that I'm not a racist, I'm a stupidist--I hate stupid no matter the "skin tone." Chalk ANOTHER incident up. The anti-gunners are having a field day with the last 12 months. There is going to be a push hard, heavy and fast. I expect a sweeping gun control or ban bill will be pushed through within the first 100 days of the new administration.

I'd like to hear the soap opera behind this incident. The "skrewl" is located in a part of town that I drive infrequently and quickly thru. It's a shame, 'cuz as a young boy, it was a decent part of town. Now the Hoodlums have infested it.
Anyhow, tragic incident that goes to show you how far certain members of society have digressed.0 -

in other words, its an anti gun story , so it gets headlines here.
i truly believe that the answer is to at least train and arm teachers in ALL schools so they can protect their students...isnt it strange these sicko`s never seem to go into a police station or some other place where they know people are armed and will shoot back?...i dont even begin to understand what makes someone want to kill innocent people...it sickens me to think about it, but gun bans arent the answer, that much is obvious!0 -
Weird. I haven't been to "that" part of town in probably 5+ years and today after leaving the refinery I head down Winbourne to go to a gunshow. The place is surrounded with an 8ft fence topped with razor wire. Kinda looked like the place Ramtin works.
The story I heard is that the shooter was having trouble making the grade in a class she was takin and wanted a transfer. For some reason she decided to show up at school and start shootin. It's being REPORTED as a random act. That little voice in my head begs to differ. There has to be a true backstory there and for one reason or another it isn't being told. Kinda like the 4th of July shootings downtown on the levee.0
