The other day, I bid and won from a first time seller on GB. I got a heck of a deal, I think. The problem is that this seller has several other items for sale that are woefully under priced. Should I help this person with advice or just let her sink or swim? She is selling items 6 or so at a time and has a lot more to sell. Given time she will probably see the error in her ways. In the meantime, I almost feel guilty taking advantage of the situation. Thoughts?[?]

    My thoughts are everyone has the chance to bid on It. IMHO better to start an item at $.01 if you really want to sell it you may have thought it was under priced but no one else thought so . I would rather see more seller like this one then ones that relist 50 times with a reserve that is 3X what the value is .

    Let the market decide. Sometimes people just want to get rid of stuff and other times it's the luck of the draw. The same item may sell cheap one day, then the next day it goes for way more than it's worth.

    I agree with the others. To many listing's start at to high a price and thats why the need to continually re list the item.

    A great many people are scanning the auction looking for products they want. This means that the odds of her "giving" something away are very small. As long as the price stays within reason people will continue to bid on it.

    When the price approches the upper end of what the audieance thinks it should sell for the bidding will slow and then stop.

    This is the "magic" of the "Bartering system"![8D]

    Let's say for example she has a rifle that is worth easily, and by gunbroker history, $1000. She is putting a low resreve of about $400. I guess that protects her from "giving" it away. She should probably just sell it no reserve and see what happens. In my case she put a "buy it now" price that was hard to resist. As I said before, she will live and learn, I guess. I will just continue to monitor her auctions.. They are very misleading in description and the placement is not where you would normally look on a search. That being said, I am keeping her secret for now.[;)][:)]

    The market will decide. I will not bid on an item with an unrealistic minimum bid. If I put an item up for sale I will put a $.01 minimum bid on it. The bidders will decide. You can always put a hidden reserve if you wish.

    I agree with what is being said, but I might make the suggestion that she get rid of the BIN. That way she can let it go as high as it is capable of.

    Man, don't feel guilty, she will come out on top if she lists the items correctly and gives everyone a chance to look and bid. She probably knows what she's selling and knows what she has to have out of the items to at least break even. It'll be ok. But if you want to tell her, go ahead; she'll appreciate the advice.
