Negligent discharge

This is a comment from FB on the incident at the Chehalis Gun Show held at the Lewis County Fairgrounds. This occurred earlier today. I don't normally go to gun shows, but I attended this one several months ago and it seemed to be pretty well organized.

I earlier posted a link to "Lewis County Sirens" FB page, but that kept changing.

"Julie Zielke Just as an FYI......I was there today when we had the AD/ND. I am a vendor there and was standing 5 feet from the firearm when it happened. Let me explain......the individual that was holding the 308 Winchester that discharged, he was NOT a vendor, he was looking down the barrel and then started working with the action. There was NO wire tie on the firearm. When the firearm discharged, the crowd was shoulder to shoulder with a young boy (7 or so) standing at the end of the table who barely missed being hit. The round hit the concrete, went through 2 rifle cases, one with a rifle action in it (which was damaged), 2 storage bins, misc items and ended up embedded in a Blue Book barely missing a Vendor. The individual has been removed permanently from the Wes Knowdel shows, will be facing penalties with Lewis County and is paying for damages.

    If anybody thinks NDs are funny, email me your phone number and I'll call you. You won't think so after you've heard what I had to do yesterday.

    Sounds like he broke just about all the rules of gun safety on that one.
    I'm glad that he lived tell about it, could have been much worse.

    good info. props to the guy for admitting his mistake and sharing it with the world. takes a lot of balls to admit when you mess up that badly. some people might have come up with a masked assailant story.

    My first thought was, "Who in their right mind would admit to something like this, much less post all those gruesome pics of it?"

    But I think you've said it well. It takes some serious testicular fortitude to serve yourself up as a bad example. And I'm absolutely sure he won't do that again. Good post.

    As others have said, it was pretty cool of the guy to assess his actions and 'fess up to what he did. There's a lot of learning to be had in that post. +1 to him.

    If I recall that first picture is from some guy who shot himself in the ankle while shooting a bear that was chewing on him.
