Think they're paid, or that they can't keep quiet?

I've posted a similar post in the past, but did not bring up this question...

Whenever you see, "...according officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.." do you think that the officials were bribed by the journalists or that they just can't keep their mouths shut?

    Well, I thought of it again when I read the, "...according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation." line in an article about the marine who is a murder suspect and is on the run. However, you see similar lines so many times in news articles, it seems commonplace.

    Either way I think it shows a lack of integrity on the part of those making the comments.

    As I understand it, the Mexican govt. will not allow him to be extridited as long as the death penalty is on the table

    That won't stop someone from going down there, finding him and administrating "instant justice".
