night vision generations

Howdy, I have used mil spec 3rd gen, I have seen low grade "sporting-goods" 1st gen and I know I can't afford 4th gen..............What about second gen optics???????? Closer to first or third?????? Also........ Russian equipment in this regard seem to have a bad rap any one know if that is justified or not??????How about the Israeli surplus NV goggles laying around everywhere????????Thanks

    Take a look at ATN Generation 2+. Somewhere in the 1k-1500 dollar range.

    Thanks select fire, I Will if I can Put my hands on them before shelling out the doe..I assume you are suggesting they are comparable to 3rd gen? You see I know 3rd and I know !st is not even remotely as usefull but I have not found second gen localy and have no idea how much progression took place in between 1 and 3..........was it an even progression or a giant leap???????

    Yep, I don't want this to turn into an ad.

    But I stock digital NVG handheld, 20oz monocular with rubberized manual zoom, adaptability to cameras, tripod stud on bottom, built in 2-8x, water resistant, patented cutting edge stuff, rechargeable Li-Ion batt.

    Doesn't bloom, can't burn out the tube (there is no tube), no spots or flecks/grainy pic. Like watching a "blue and white" TV without the tube.

    AZEX any where you would recommend for further research (I don't see anything specific) on your site.......Do you know if it is available in 1x ??? I need some thing I can use for walking.....I recently had a long night trying to cut my own tracks in the dark in order to find my truck. To much fun had me five me miles out when It got dark...... Thanks again

    I'm not up to date on the latest gear...

    but here is a tip...

    Starch and all the chemicals you wash your laudry with may cause you to glow brighter on their night vision equip.

    I've got a $60 Night Owl unit that is grainy but fun.
