ever think about suicide?

and no i'm not

a gal i work with decided to eat a bullet leaving behind a husband{i also work with}, and kids, i had a long talk with her a few weeks ago, and it was very obvious she was headed for a nervous breakdown due to job related stress, and being stuck financially in a job not appropriate for her

anyway this is about the 10th person i have known in my life that decided this is a good decision, and i have been in some ruff times but i just don't think i could ever take this action, last one was a friends wife, she used a 12 gauge, and another close friend of mine cleaned it up


i just can't see it

    I knew Jack Kervorkian's last client personally.
    My heart went out to her family, who are Roman Catholic and couldn't understand the woman's decision. But I had to agree with her completely.
    I only hope there is an option like that if I ever face the same fate she did.

    Yeah,I`ve thought about it and my mom actually did it on mothers day.It will be two years this spring. I understand her decision,but I`m still messed up over it.

    There was a guy where I work who tried it unsuccessfully. He was distraught over his wife. He only blew his chin off. Word was, his wife told him that he still couldn't do anything right.

    No, but plenty of shrinks have accused me of it. I went through a rough spell between my junior year in High School and 2nd year of college. My family intervened claiming I was a threat to myself and to others so I was forced to go to counseling. Shrinks don't care about what's going on in your head, they just want you to fit their classic psych profiles and get paid.

    Some folks say that it is a final act of passive aggression against those near to them. Sort of like the little kid who says, "They'll all be sorry when I'm gone." Serious illness excluded, perhaps, but there are some good medications for pain these days. To me, an insult to God, possibly mental illness in some cases, a waste if it accomplishes nothing but removing you from the scene. Even if your life means little to you, your death can mean something besides "Adios, MF".

    One time when I was very young. I sought the help of a friend and the best advice I was ever given.

    "Why? 100 years from now will I matter? enjoy life!"

    I also had a close friend/room mate/business partner kill himself while we lived in my house.

    I've lost friends, aquaintences, and family members to suicide. Not me.

    A friend/neighbor did that and was terminal with cancer. Messy.

    Ive had two close friends and other friends who have ended their own life. But Ive seen more scenes of suicide than I can count. A person would have to have a mighty burden on them to commit suicide. Its a very sad thing.

    Yep...and the time I came the closest was when I had a 20 gauge shotgun barrel in my mouth after I found out my first wife cheated on me. Glad I'm still around and I hope I'm never in a situation where I seriously consider it again...

    Tragically, suicides are very prevalent in our society.

    I don't know if statistics are kept on suicides but look at how many members here have been affected by suicide.

    I do know that most media outlets do not publish articles on suicide victims so as to not "grant" them any attention in death.
    Same for TV news.

    The exception is if it's a murder-suicide.

    When I was a youth, I was near a house when I heard the shot. An old guy who just lost his wife, locked the house up, and stuck a .22 caliber rifle to his head.

    Since then, I have know several people who have offed themselves. It seems like they were either just out of high school, or old and just after losing their mate.

    I've never contemplated suicide and make no judgements against those who have or, God forbid, actually commit the deed.

    My venom is reserved for those who decide to kill a bunch of other people before they go.

    Nope. But I'm lucky like that, I suppose. No matter how depressed I got, I always figured I'd get to where I was going sooner or later, so there was no need to rush things.

    I have two very dear friends, we are all only children, and we consider each other "brothers". We are as close to brothers as we can be. One of them stuck an SP101 in his mouth 4 years ago and I had to clean the room. That was rough.
    My other brother lost his Dad to suicide 3 years ago. That was a very rough time as well, cause my bro found his Pops after he took a .45 in the mouth.

    Very sad times. I miss both those guys every day......heck, one of them helped raise me!

    Very selfish of them but I hope they both rest in peace now. I won't hold the grudge, let someone else do it

    That is a loaded question!

    If a person claims they have never thought of it I'd say they were a lier!

    Now acting or makeing plans for it are a different type of question! Very few have probly gone that far.

    i have had 3 people around me take the big step . one a cop .it seems so sad ,there were all very good people .last one was on tuesday last .a bar-owner (female) was behind in taxes and money .i guess it was to much pressure . she put a pistol to her head .

    old timer across the street from me , he was takeing his wife for cancer treatments .he was a huge hit & miss motor fan . well he went in for a check up ,learned he had lung cancer .he never smoked the wife always did . well he went out behind the garage with a 12 gauge and never came back .

    and the cop ...........well he learned of his second upcoming divorce .went to work and never left his desk ...

    damn life just sucks sometimes .
