I'll take your luck, thoughts, prayers.....
...or whatever else you may have.
Yesterday I climbed five flights of stairs, leading my students to the greenhouse on top of our classroom building to give them a little tour.
When I got to the top I was short of breath[xx(]
My father always said: "Cancer cures smoking." Let's see if incipient COPD does the trick for me.
So wish me best, or do whatever it is you do when folks need strength.

Sprugemastur, I am quitting, too. I am down from over 1.5 packs a day to 5-6 single smokes. Not easy but I'm progressing.
Good luck to you.0 -
Try Chantex. Everyone at work says it made stopping a breeze. 0 -
Good luck! 0 -
My brother in law stopped smoking with Chantex. He's one of those you don't think will ever quit 'til he dies. He says he doesn't even want one now. I put them down cold turkey again about a 2 years ago. Good luck Spurge. You have my support. 0 -
Have,nt taken a Dip since late Nov.07.I enjoyed dipping and could not imagine life without it.A health issue reared its ugly head and i had to choose between the enjoyment of tobacco or living a longer life.I chewed the Hill out of nicotine gum for a while and used an herbal chew.Theres a body dependency and a psychological dependency you have to kick. With a little ingenuity, replacing those needs with a non-harming substitute you can do it.Its been almost a month since i quit the nicotine gum and a week since ive used an herbal substitute.Yes i was cranky but im starting to feel better every week.I already feel better than when i was using. One of the best things is not living in fear of continuing to damage my health. You can do this if i can.For a while you will feel you cant get through the day, believe me,you will get over it.The futures lookin good! cahas 0 -

Thanks for all the support. For those advocating the medicated route, I have nothing against it! It's just that I already use Wellbutrin as a constitutive part of my "diet," and as for Chantrix, it is 1) expensive, and 2) known to cause nausea in about 20% of users.
So......I'm using the patch and am going to try that for a nicotine weening method while I get over the habit of rolling and smoking a cigarette.
If that fails, I'll definitely try Chantrix because it's still cheaper than the alternative. But for now I have to believe that I can do it using the patch.
I've done it before. I once quit for two years (not quite cold turkey, but without chemical aids), and once got danged close to quitting with the patch. I was almost there when my field research season began, and the patch wouldn't stay on with the sweat of working out-doors (at least that's what I told myself at the time).
I plan to prevail. I might be a bitch for a couple weeks, though. (I know it's not allowed to use bitch as an epithet on this board. Is it allowed if it's directed at yourself?) Anyway, I've been called worse that during previous episodes when I tried to quit.0 -
Good luck to you. It's a bitch of a habit, isn't it? 0
