under21 and handguns
so if my mom writes a note that my 18 year old brother can take her pistol to the range he would be all clear right?

B14) May a parent or guardian purchase firearms or ammunition as a gift for a juvenile (less than 18 years of age)? [Back]
Yes. However, possession of handguns by juveniles (less than 18 years of age) is generally unlawful. Juveniles generally may only receive and possess handguns with the written permission of a parent or guardian for limited purposes, e.g., employment, ranching, farming, target practice or hunting

POSSESSION of a handgun by someone under the age of 21 is regulated by STATE law, and not by the BATFE (accurate quote that you posted notwithstanding) Depends on your STATE law. I know when I lived in Colorado that in agriculture, it was not unusual for an "under 21" to pack a handgun in their employment- literally with a note from Mom or Dad. Your mileage may vary. 0 -

In Florida 18 can legally own a handgun, but may not purchase from an FFL dealer. Under 18 only by parental approval, but parent must be present when transporting said firearm..0 -
