  The C-99 was the one-off cargo version of the B-36. For a prototype, it had a very good career, flying 7430 hours before being grounded in 1957. It's been sitting at Kelly AFB since, and last word I heard was the AF Museum at Wright-Patt was working on relocating it to Ohio.

  Yikes! that C-99 was a BIG beast. I did some poking around and leaned that Convair proposed building a Model 37, which was to be the commercial version that carried a mere 204 passengers!
  
  It also appears that the Kelly AFB version of the XC-99 was partially sent to Wright Pat in October 2006. I'll have to head down and take a gander that that beauty.
