Taking Nice Gun Photos - No Bare Feet?
I seem to recall a tutorial on taking for sale auction photos somewhere. And I probably have had a few bad ones, but here are some ideas. Maybe it could be a sticky for a while.
1) Don't bother uploading fuzzy out of focus photos...shoot them over, use sunlight or a flash to get sharpness. Consider going outside for real good light.
2) Get high above the item, even use the stairs. Get farther back, and use the telephoto to eliminate distortion.
3) Find an uncomplicated background... use a single color sheet or blanket. Look thru the viewfinder, and clear the photo of clutter before you press the button. We don't need knife sharpeners, last month's electric bill, the dog dish, and for heavens sake... NOT YOUR BARE FEET!
4) If you are a frequent seller or poster, think about getting a half sheet of thin Formica which is the background, and then make a 1/4 th circle curved frame out of some plywood which you attach the bendable Formica into. Then get 2 simple floodlights from Home Depot or Wal-Mart to illuminate the display. You can make a nylon fishline loop to suspend the gun above the background.
Golly... we see everyting from shoes or feet to "outies" protruding from developing beer bellies.
When selling at auction, a good photo will help you get a better price.
