PSA : Security Toolbar 7.1 Virus

My wife somehow picked up a new virus on my laptop yesterday called Security Toolbar 7.1. Once it installs itself in Internet Explorer it flashed a message that the computer in infected with spy-ware even if it is not. It then offers to solve the problem with a "system scan". The scan downloads a bunch of junk and takes over your browser. I now have constant popups and warnings that are driving me crazy.

After a little research I settled on the removal tool offered here:
http://www.pcontech.com/Security-Toolbar-remove.htm Don't use it. Cost is $29. I'm now trying a free AVG tool.
DO NOT USE IT UNTIL I REPORT BACK!!!

I'm in the middle of the cleanup now. I'll report back soon.

    There is a free removal tool (download) on that site that "claims" to be guaranteed to remove Security Toolbar 7.1.

    That is the one that is $29.

    I think I can do it with the free.AVG tool but I'm having a hard time getting logged on in "safe" mode.
