Computer guys, HELP
Can anyone tell me what this is? I was cleaning off the desk today and I found it. It was still in the plastic bag it came in. Iss it worth anything? Should I chunk it?

It will run a monitor and play most of the games that were out a few years ago. It will be great inside a Linux box. Even better running Id Software's Enemy Territory which is a WWII first person shooter that is FREE!

Actually, its a decent card - should run everything up to Quake 3 level games. Fine for what 90% of us do with a computer, but not enough oomph to run Vista with all the eye candy. Great card for running Linux with (very well supported driver from NVidia although its not completely Open Source), and its got S-Video out, so you could use it for a TiVO like project (see mythtv)
In short, I'd keep it, esp. if you have a static bag that computer parts ship in, just stick it somewhere and remember that you have it. Throw it away when there aren't any slots to plug it into a "standard" motherboard any more.0 -

Send it to me. I'll pay shipping. I'll use it to rebuild a PC for 1 of my dis ad kids.
It will run everything out there. Just not as great as the new million dollar machines.
It is a geforce 4000 with 128 megs of ram and was made in the end 0f 2006. The label is pretty self explanatory. Unless you are running a gaming system you generally have no onboard video ram and your MB shares it's ram with the vid card. This really reduces the available resources to the op sys. This kind of card would speed up most systems out there today by dedicating mem to the vid.
If you can use it it is a keeper.0 -

at the time it was made it was probably well over a hundred bucks, and top of the line until agp came along, sure beats the hell out of onboard video they made back then
edit: it's killing me, i know who made that by the proprietary heat sinks, but i can't think of it0 -
