help on wireless internet

We are looking into high speed, but have to go through a dish. Has anybody heard of watwire (spelling?)? Is it a good service and worthwhile? We currently have dial up and definitely need to upgrade.

Any advice helpful.

    I live in the outback and feel your pain. A neighbor has huge$net, download speed great, upload speed only fair.

    I've had two wireless internet providers in the last year. The best was a outfit called CommSpeed. They use towers similar to cellphone towers to distribute their signal. Unfortunately it was a relatively short range, line of sight deal that prevented total area coverage.

    The other that I unfortunately have now, is Hugesnet. They are satellite based and have total coverage. The download speed seems slower to be then that of CommSpeed, my former provider. The monthly cost is also approximately 50% higher, then what CommSpeed charged, i.e. was $35, now $59+. I am not a happy camper.

    I got Hughes and it sucks your caped off at 450mb a day after that they drop you to 2-3 kbs from about 100 wich I pay for 750![xx(]

    I have internet through Satellite.

    I am connected with Dish Network but it is actually Wildblue.

    I pay about $50/month. I get roughly 500kbs download and 100kbs upload. I am limited to a usage policy. I can download as much as I want in a day but over a 30 day rolling period I can only download 7500MB. If you do go over they cut your speed in half until the rolling period is 5000Mb, then you get speed again.

    For more money you can get faster speeds and a larger limit.

    I get good connection but will lose signal in heavy rain but snow doesn't seem to bother as much.

    At home I use a radio link to a repeater tower 2 miles away, and than on to the base tower that's another 30 miles further on. have no complaints.

    Thanks for the replies I will keep looking I guess. There's got to be something better than dial up. Might as well be using two cans and a string.....Bull
