Is the .17HMR2 dead?

Just wondering what everyone thinks. I think the .17 HMR caught on, but the .17 HMR2 did not.

For those that do not know, the .17HMR is based on a .22 magnum and the .17HMR2 is based on the .22 LR.

Last year I bought a bolt-action .17HMR, but don't think I would purchase a .17HMR2.

    The Mach 2 is basically dead, there was not enough benefit over a standard 22 lr to warrent the extra expense. Of course if ammo for the Mach 2 totally dries up you can still fire 17 Agula out of it.

    Now that the .17 Remington Fireball is back on the market.

    Do you think that it will have an effect on .17 HMR sales?

    Who cares what the masses think ?
    Like the .280..an excellect cartridge..but ignored by most.

    The Mach 2 is one sweet shooting little round...is what the .22 ought to have been from the beginning.

    Back in the ninties, an old gunsmith out in Ford Kansas took .17 caliber barrels and chambered them in .22..using a 3* lead, he would shoot jacks with great success..those lead bullets would squirt out the barrel looong and skiny...

    I would like for it to stay around because it is an accurate round. I agree there's nothing wrong with the .22's ,I have several. But my son's and I were out shooting a few weeks ago and I was amazed at what my 12 year was doing with the Mach 2. He got bored shooting one holers at the target (50 yds) so he preceded to shoot the staples out holding the target. Amazing accuracy out of that round...Bull

    Trajectory out to 100 yards is like nothing.. .7 of an inch, I think.and as stated, the accuracy absolutely puts the .22 to shame.
    I believe that as a squirrel round, it would be superb.and for the little ground squirrels absolutely out of sight.

    I thought the .17HMR had more ass than the .17M2[?] Why would the weaker round(M2" ever be considered ? Price was the same, or more.

    Now.. Wouldn't that raise pressures to DANGEOUSLY high levels? Like trying to stuff a .45 through a .44?[?]
