Ruger Red label question.....

Locust Fork
On the grip part of the stock.....if the eagle is RED instead of black what does that mean?

    could mean that it was manufacture during Ruger's 50 yr anniversary. They came out with a anniversary addition mark II. same as all the other mark II's but had a red eagle instead of the silver one.


    *my bad rugers 50th anniversary. guy on the gallery of gun forum says that ruger made only about 1000 total 12&20ga

    I understood that originally it was red but was changed to black after one of the two founders died.

    the manufacture date should indicate weather it is as "mowart" said or if it was a anniversary addition. it is true it was once red that was along time ago.

    When Alexander Sturm died Bill Ruger changed the eagle to black. And as stated above the 50th yr anniversary of each Model has the red eagle.

    Its an older shotgun...I haven't seen it, but a friend of my father was thinking of selling it. He called to see about what it was worth. I told him what wholesale was on the new ones....and that when he asked if the "red eagle" meant anything.
