How is garlic grown? Do you seperate the individiual cloves and plant them?
Do these cloves grow bigger into the bulbs were all familiar with?

Separate the bulb into cloves. Best planting is in fall, let grow over winter. Each clove grows into a bulb of many cloves. However, there IS a form of garlic that has little bulbs growing at the tips of the green stalks ABOVE ground. Easy to pick. Rather strong, not to my taste. 0 -
...What 11b said. The stuff is like a weed once it takes hold. As he said, plant in the fall or later. The green tops will tend to fall over when it's ready to pull up.
...Once you pull it up, don't shake all the dirt off the roots, have NO idea why, just always heard and did it that way [:D]. Take several of the mature plants in a bunch, tie a string around the tops...and hang in a shed or other shady *spot where you have air circulating until the tops turn brown...[;)]
...* if vampires are a problem, hang over windows and exterior doors...WARNING! garlic does NOT work to repel zombies!
