months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day.

Anyone into Lugers? I got a 1918 DWM from my mother for my 21st BD. It was stolen in 1986 and I found the same gun (but not quite as nice) to replace it. Not the same, of course.
I see a lot of Lugers in the auction listings. Who's got one or some here?

I've always liked and wanted a luger, but when I got to a place in life that I could afford one I always spent the gun money on a Colt Single Action or a Winchester SRC. I still want one though!

Lefty: I think so. Front and backstrap show less finish from handling. Some parts straw, some not. It's a 1937 S/42. That's the year they phased-out straw parts. And even the smallest parts have the last two digits of the serNo (91). Best, Joe 0 -

About 2 months ago A gentleman at the range had one next to me. I complimented him on how well his pistol looked (It looked mint). He then proceeded to tell me the history on it, show me how to operate it, when he got it, then handed it to me, handed me some ammo, and said let er' rip. First time I ever shot one, let alone touch one.

I always thought the P-38 was a better pistol than the Luger...more "evil" looking, which fitted the Germans just fine IMHO. Better overall design...to be fair the P-38 had 3 decades of r&d put in it

Nicest Walther I have is the P5C, which is the smaller version of the P5 which is itself an evolution of the P38. The only thing I don't like about the P38/P1/P5 is the bottom mag release, a requirement for at the time German/West German military/police use. The P5C has a 1911 style mag release. OF couse, it costs way more than any other similar pistol, so it never caught on0 -
Love to have a .30 Luger. My Grandpappy had one and traded it for a model 12[xx(]. One of the best shooting pistols I ever shot. There was no noticeable recoil, so you were always on target. 0 -
I have Lugers, 2 P38's and 2 P1's - of all of them there is absolutely no question in
my mind - P09's are #1 in craftsmanship, balance and eye appeal. The only thing
wrong with them is they are 9mm. If they were .30 Mauser or .45 (as a few of the
prototypes were) ... I'd consider them to be close to the perfect military sidearm.
I like Lugers and Rugers (Mk series) because they are 'natural pointers'/'logical extensions' of
the shooting hand. It's my contention that any serious collection should have one in
it.
Sorry to waste so much bandwidth here on guns - but sometimes I'm drawn in by

I have an early Luger in 30cal that was probably a civilian gun as it doesn't have any military markings on it. Or possibly it could have been a police issue. I'm thinking about listing it on the auction side either this weekend or first of the week. 0 -
I think all .30 Lugers were commercial. The military used the 9mm.
I believe that only two of the 45 ACP test Lugers still exist and are valued at about one million each.0 -
