Grass fire.... to close

Well folks almost lost our house to a grass fire. It got within 30ft of the house before it hit the area we clear every fall and burn it to the dirt just so a fire like this cant get to the house.


I owe a huge thanks to the person who saw what was going on and called the Volinteer fire department.

We were 30 miles from home when we got a call telling us what was going on, the message said our house was on fire ..... lucky for us it was not but it did burn up under our 1,000 gallon propane tank, good thing it bunred out before it got real hot.

My luck still holds .

    you were lucky, but also smart, you cleared your fire hazards while it was safe! good on you for it too, pity more didnt do it.

    Go for 60 feet next year!

    There is also some other good products for home protection by the home owner. Foam is one of them. I'm also a Fire Chief for a small fire department. Email me if you want info on these products. I'm NOT a salesman or dealer!

    We go 100 ft in So. Kalif. We use Red Apple (a type of Ice Plant) to keep the 100 ft barrier. Also we keep all the trees trimed back so a ground fire can't climb the tree and spread to the houses.
