Lock failures?

Seems that most new handguns are being equipped with some sort of key lock now. Have any of you had one lock itself? Recoil gets it to turn?

is it possible that you didn't have it totally open? cause that would be a bummer in a crisis situation.

Never any problem, Ruger .45 has one and my S&W 500 has one.

The only malfunctions I have heard of are some of the ultra light weight S&W revolvers in the Magnum calibers. Seems the guns are so light the recoil generated can cause the lock to engage when fired as the internal parts move under the inertia of recoil.

Guns in more sane calibers and those with heavier frames don't appear to do this that I know about.

there is more involved than it just locking itself, there has been internal component damage issues, most of the locks disable the hammer/sear/trigger, and if it slightly engages it can cause wear and/or breakage of vital components

remember this ideal came from the same people who believe handing out external trigger locks will prevent crime

Never a problem here. I have 2 of them that have the lock.
