Question about Gunbroker

I recently had a gun listed on GB, and after it had many bids, I checked the gun out a little closer, and realized that I needed to change the listing to inform the buyers that the bore was NOT clean, and had some pitting. I had tried to "revise" GB items before, but couldn't if there were bids(unlike e-bay). I saw an option to END THE LISTING, and took it, to re-list, with a better description(so I wouldn't be accused of misrepresenting the gun). I re-listed with a better description, only to receive an e-mail that the gun had been sold when I ended the first listing. I was dumbfounded! It must have "knocked" the gun out to the high bidder, even though there was alot of time left. Then, I had to go and END the new listing. Do I 'owe" the gun to the "buyer"? He can obviously leave feedback, and I e-mailed him explaining what happened, and get no response back. How can I rectify this crap? Should I relist anyway? Thanks for suggestions!!

    Do they charge your credit card every month or something. i thought the 1$ fee was to make sure the credit card was valid

    you cant end an auction w/o it being sold. you cant change your listing info, you can only add to a description, not make change. call the bidders and explain what happened. ask gb to relist it and void the first one and refund you.

    Thanks. I was unaware that I could add to the description, as I "thought" I had tried on another item before. I know that, on e-bay, it will tell you what the consequences are if you end a listing. There was nothing on GB informing me what would happen. If I had only known....I have no negative feedback, and don't want this to give me one, and I know that the "buyer"(who only has 2 transactions) can do it, so I e-mailed him yesterday, offering the gun for the high bid. But I'm not getting a reply back. He may not want it anymore, due to the circumstances. I don't know how much time I should give him. I DID contact customer support, but they are slow getting back with me on this. Thanks for your reply.

    Ending an auction early is generally not a good idea if bids have been placed on the item. If there is a winning bidder at the time the auction is closed you are obligated to sell the item to the winning bidder. This means that the item must be sold to the high bidder if 1.) the reserve price has been met or 2.) the item has no reserve price and bids have been placed. Since many bidders wait until the last minute to place a bid, ending an auction early may reduce the amount you will receive for the item.

    Using this page will end the auction immediately (right now!). Make sure that this is what you want to do.
