Firefox/Windows Media Player Problems...

Ever since switching over to Firefox, I have not been able to hear the audio when a video plays. If I go to a news site that uses Windows Media Player, the video will play but there's no sound with it. I have tried to "repair or restore missing files" with the Firefox add-ons but this did not work. Any ideas???

  A PC programer told me once that MS has encoded blocks on the media player to cause the videos to play very small, very poor picture, and or no sound with any internet software that is not supported by MS.

  If someone sends me a video in an email, it seems to work...or at least some of the time. I notice the problem the most when I'm trying to view a video on a website...like a news clip.
