Decided I just don't care to know

Everytime I've been sick over the last several years, it's turned into a big deal with lots of tests, fears of the worst, and lots of sleepless nights. Some of it was bad, some of it was nothing out of the normal.

Over the last few days, I haven't been able to hold food on my stomach. I've been throwing up and feeling bloated. Today I've thrown up some fresh blood in the mix.

At first this hightened my concerns, but I've done this before, and it turned out to be nothing major. If I go to the doctor, he will do all of the tests for cancer again, and if it's returned, there is nothing they are going to able to do anyway because I'm max'ed out on radiation. If it's the same ailment as before, it will pass in about a week or so.

I'm not going to put Sandy and me through it any more. I'm waiting it out. If it passes, I'll know it wasn't anything to worry about. If it doesn't, I'll go see the doctor when the pain starts. Either way, I'm through jumping through hoops or taking any more tests!

I ask no prayers. It's just up to God at this point, and I believe it's nothing more than my bad stomach doing it's yearly "I'm the boss" thing. It's done this every now and then ever since they took the gallbladder out, and I tired of worrying everytime there is a bump in the road.

    You've got a point about being tired of worrying all the time. Sometimes it's better to have a positive attitude than a doctor's visit, you know?

    Regardless, my prayers are with ya. I know you said you weren't asking for any, but I can't help it... it's just what I do.[;)]

    Heff, I'm no doctor but I would a least call the doctor and describe the symptoms to him/her.....If he/she is familiar with your past medical history the doctor may be able to put your mind at ease and give you advice as to when/if you should come in for a visit if the problem continues..just my 2 cents. I understand things have been tough for you and your family lately, but you owe it yourself and your loved ones to get it checked if needed.

    If I call him and tell him my feet stink, he sets up a weeks worth of outpatient tests at the hospital. He's told me on many occasions that it's better to be safe than sorry.

    I'm tired of paying for his country club membership when I can't even go play the front 9.

    I'll reconsider in a week or two.

    no more ("asparin") for you,..or any other thing that can/will upset you. I had a ulcer in my stomach years ago, from stress and a bad relationship. Mostly my choices(worked like a Dog in those day's}
    Learned to ease off,... it was not easy.

    Ease up on yourself a little it (Will Pass)

    Sounds like you're still having gall bladder problems.

    I know it was removed, but your body will rebuild an area similar to a gall bladder, and stones can form again. I had mine removed 30 years ago and still have problems -- went into the hospital last year in terrible pain that was located in the center of my abdomen, and my liver count was up. They thought I had a heart attack, ran every test known to man and didn't find anything wrong. The pain went away after 2 days of morphine, but they still put me through upper and lower endoscopies, found a small polyp and lasered it.

    After all was said and done, my hospitalist doctor diagnosed that I had a gall stone and passed it -- no other problem was found.

    Last month, the pain came back --- I called the doctor, took pain killers and it finally passed.

    I hope the same thing works out for you -- if that's your problem.

    ...Im one that waits way too long to go see the doc anyway, always have been. Back 4-5(?) years ago felt REALLY bad at the ranch out on the lake,a Friday morning around 1100...went to the house for a few hours, then went back and got back in the boat...immediately felt rotten again. Felt like death the rest of the day and night. Felt better Saturday...and Sunday day. I woke up around 0300 Monday morning REALLY sick and chest hurting..about 2100 my daughter came over and literally carried me to the hospital. tests, tests..seems I had 3 coronary festivals from Friday until then [:D]...quad by-pass..[B)]

    ...I know what you mean though. Last time I went to the hospital for 2 tests, 4hr=almost $2,300...results? The damn tests got lost and would be at MY exspense to have them done again, screw it...WTH wants to live forever anyway...ain't gonna happen...[;)]

    I'm kind of that way.
    Every time I go to the doctor, he wants me have some PM tests done which have nothing to do with why I'm there. To see how my liver/kidneys etc are doing.
    I tell him "Look doc, I'm not interested in that stuff. I'm here for the issue at hand. Treat that and only that.
    It's not that I have a death wish. But I'm not big on running up debts that I can't pay. No one will tell me what all these tests are going to cost. And everytime I get one, I get bills from 14 places and people I never saw or heard of. And it takes me a year or two to pay them all.
    Rich people can afford good healthcare. I can't. Even if you found some major illness, I likely couldn't afford the sugery etc to treat it. And I have no intention of running up HUGE bills to leave my family saddled with.
    So if it isn't broke, lets not worry about it until it is. Treat me for what I came here for. I take the responsibilty. When my times up,I'll take it like a man. Better people than me have died alot younger. And frankly, I've seen old age and it doesn't look like any kind of prize."
