With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00. With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.
But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I think someone missplaced a decimal here somewhere. Even in MI, with $0.10 refunds, which you pay up front, you would only get approximately $200-$300 back and that would just be a refund. I'm not sure what the going rate for aluminum is but I would bet that 1000 cans can't be worth more than about $50 in most states.

I'm bored so I did the research and the math. It looks like at todays prices 1000 cans would be worth about $15.

But if you had bought a nice vintage Smith & Wesson, or other make of your choice, you most certainly would still have your $1000, and if reasonably prudent in your purchase, you may even have doubled or even tripled your investment. Been trying to get that thru my wife's head for 30 years. Some models have increased six fold in that time. Dang it. 0 -
