Another dog attack...
Two people attacked by pit bulls roaming the Treme section of New Orleans were in stable condition at Tulane Medical Center on Friday after undergoing surgery for injuries from the attack.

One of the pit bulls in the attack has already been euthanized. The LASPCA is trying to determine what to do with the second dog (pictured).
A 4-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother were playing outside their home when she was knocked down and bitten on the neck, arms, legs, stomach and face, her mother told the hospital.
The child was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Tulane Hospital for Children.
"The patient was in a life-threatening situation, and she is extremely lucky to be alive, but she is recovering very well," said the girl's physician, Dr. Matei Petrescu.
After neighbors fought the dogs off the children, the animals attacked a 56-year-old man a couple of blocks away. Raymond Hall was also knocked to the ground and bitten on both arms and legs. The attack stopped only after a bystander shot one of the dogs, the SPCA reported.
Video: Watch the Story Hall was admitted to surgery Thursday evening under the care of Drs. Michael Weaver and John Pigott, hospital officials said.
"The artery supplying blood to Mr. Hall's arm was severely injured, and the survival of his hand was at risk," Weaver said. "Because we were able to operate immediately, we were able to bypass the damaged area and save his hand."
The SPCA impounded the dogs and arranged emergency veterinary care for the dog that was shot. The animal control agency also cited the dogs' owner for two counts of allowing dogs to roam at large, no proof of rabies vaccination and for possession of vicious dogs. The agency is meeting with state prosecutors to determine if other charges should be filed.

I see a pitbull off a leash, it gets euthanized for free. [xx(] If you are one of those who feel they deserve to even be alive,..you had BETTER keep it in your yard or on a strong leash,....I will NOT have a talk with you about this,..I will KILL your dog. I agree, Pits have no reason to be here they are a useles dog, most people i feel own them as a staus maker. 0 -

I have to diagree with you here. I think all dogs have a purpose, one way or another. I have a few friends that use pits in hog hunting. But I think that the owner of pits should do all that is possible to keep the dog pinned up.0 -
I will even euthanize pit bulls that are on a leash or in a kennel. My wife was attacked by one a year ago. 0 -

Sorry about you wife being attacked, but you might want to rethink killing somebody's dog on a leash or in a kennel. You just might get euthanized.0 -

ANY dog running free is open to extreme predujice. Now that dosen't mean that I am waiting in ambush for any dog on the loose, but if your animal approaches me, or mine growling, or snarling, or in any way threatning, I will shoot it.

YES! This is the type of post that makes sense! I wouldn't decriminate by BREED, but by CHARACTER. I like pits, and have had many of them in my lifespan. I will certainly have more before I die. Have I seen aggressive pits? Yeah, and I have seen "other" breeds and mix breeds act the same way. When a pit goes nuts, it's front page news, but when another breed does the same, little or no mention is made. Who is anyone to tell me WHAT I may own? I have a responsibility as a owner of anything, to ensure the public is safe from the things I own.0
