Hughesnet satellite hookup

Do any of you have this hi speed satellite system and how do you like it? I am getting so tired of slow dial up that I have to do something. They are running a special now and hookup will only be around 3-400. I think now might be the time for me to get something faster. Any info will be aporeciated. Tom

    I had it at my old house and the best thing I can say about it is "It is better then dial up". It is not a bad service but somethings could be better. When you only other choice is dial up it is a great choice.

    Do you have cell phone service at your house? If so you should look into setting up with your cell phone company. In many places they have broadband that is faster then Hughesnet for less money. Plus if you have a laptop you can take your internet with you.

    I have it, going on a couple months now so far so good.

    You are limited on upload speed, not going to be much faster than dial-up. Plus you are limited on the amount you can download. Their fair use policy will kick in if you try to do much file sharing.

    I have Wild Blue Satellite Internet service. The download and upload speeds are fast, but the surfing is not much faster due to the delay in the signal traveling 46,000+ miles each time you click on a new page.
