Cheney Opposes DC Handgun Ban
I do not have the technical smarts to post a link, but I just read where Dick Cheney added his signature to a document from 300 senate and house members supporting the removal of the DC handgun ban. I believe 17 members were in favor of retaining the ban. These documents of suppor or opposition are being sent to the US Supreme Court, which is considering the constitutionality of the ban. The news article (I saw it on-line on Fox News) noted that this is the first time in memory where a VP has formally taken a different position than the administration. While the administration has encouraged removal of the ban, there were caveats to that position which weakened the administration's overall position.
You folks may be able to provide links and/or more thorough info, but this is good news. Cheney has been buffooned and vilified by Washington insiders, but here in Wyoming (his home state) he is well regarded as a conservative public servand with a qwick wit and a sense of humor. The very things that don't score point with DC journalists and career bureaucrats.
