have you heard the rumor about new TV's?
someone told me the new digital tv's allow for signals to go the other way....meaning not only into your house BUT OUT, meaning your tv monitoring screen can become a surveying camera for big brother to watch you.
care to discuss?

Thats not cool, so what if you dont get a new tv and you instead buy a converter? 0 -

yes, but just imagine the law suits if it ever was proven that that was the truth...invasion of privacy...i`d sure sue the ba@%#$ds 0 -
Better cover your bed with tin foil and crawl under it. Don 0 -
A monitor cannot magically become a camera also. Relax. 0 -
I promise to only watch TV in the nude....that'll teach 'em. 0 -
Two questions:
What drugs are you smoking?

Put in them? Yes, they could. Alienware and Dell put cameras in their laptop screens. But, those are ordered by the customer. And, you can tell where they are too. You can discreetly put a camera in almost anything. Doing it as a company, and broadcasting it out of a person's home without their knowledge, is HIGHLY illegal; even for the US Gov. Do you want to imagine the lawsuit the companies would face? That alone will stop it.0 -
This silly urban legend started when cable first came into popularity. Do you actually beleive that every TV manufacturer in the world conspired with the US government to place cameras in TVs, and there is actually some agent watching everyone who has a digital TV? 0 -
uhh...im posting a rumor for discussion here. keep it general. its not me folks.[:o)] 0 -
this is a old, old rumor, it started back when i was a kid, and color tv's came out, then again with cable, allegedly your tv which is a receiver can be a transceiver, but it is physically impossible
think about it, you think they are going to put in anything extra in your tv and not charge you for it, and who would it transmit to?
now you can make a microphone out of a speaker, but then it will no longer work as a speaker0 -
...and if you hold a piece of paper up to the monitor, it becomes a fax machine. 0 -
It was Nixons idea............ 0 -
Any truth to room deodorizer TV's? Could've sworn I sore one at Best Buy that said "Air-Wick"..or was it "Febreeze"? Damn if I remember. Joe 0 -
gawd, i won't be able to watch tv naked now. 0 -
DID YOU JUST READ THE BOOK 1984? 0 -
Never mind the camera's they have bugs to listen in...[:0][:0][:o)][:o)] 0 -
Oh well....They won't see anything remarkable here. At least nothing the dog hasn't already seen! 0 -
I'm more concerned about "ala-carte" programming and the slow loss of "Free" TV...
Spot ads should pay for TV, not me[:(!]0 -
There may be a NSA back door into your computer but as for tv's....not really useful for intel.
Why is there no rating on these new tv's on power consumption or Energy Star ratings?
Was looking at some a few weeks ago and not one new tv had a energy star rating. Do they use more power than old tube tv's?0 -
Tin hat time. Jeeze what idiocy, imagine how many veiw screens would be needed to monitor the, what?, maybe 700,000,000 tvs in use in this country. And all just to learn Bobski and others pick their noses and eat potato chips in bed?
Actaully this is about the level of intelligence most conspiracy theories operate with.0 -

I think the big concern was they could LISTEN in, not see in. I don't know if I even believe that, but if they listen in at my house, all they are going to hear is snoring.[}:)]0 -

I'll thrill them every so often and sneak in a fart![}:)]
When the grandkids are here, all they hear is,
"Stop that."
"Put that down."
"I told you you were going to get hurt."
"Leave the dog alone."
"That's what dogs do when you don't leave them alone."
"It broke because you didn't leave it alone like I told you to."
"There are five TV's in this house, if you don't like what's on this one, go watch what you want on one of the others."
"I don't care if you like it or not, this is what we're eating, so eat or go hungry, I don't care which."
"Feet go on the floor, not on the furniture."
"No, you can't get up on the roof."
"Get down from the roof and get ready for a butt whipping."
"Grandma won't spank you, but I will. Want to test me?"
"You know, your head is as hard as a hickory nut."
"You're sick because you've eaten nothing but junk all day."
"The dogs are all hiding until you leave and go back home. They are smart."
"Well, your momma isn't the head of this house, I am, and what I say goes around here."
"How did you get that much dirt on you if you were just watching?"
"I'm going to trade the whole bunch of you for an old cat. At least he'll stay where I put him."
And about a hundred more I don't have time to type.0 -
