Telephone Standby!!

Got some bad weather coming through NoDak land. On base they're down to -35 wind chills and it's projected to be -50 to -60 wind chills tonight. As of now I'm on standby, only to come in if called. Since I live off base, it'll be unlikely that I'll be called.

    Too bad that's not up to me. I work the flight line, so I'm at the mercy of higher powers, including a spineless squadron commander and a group commander that always defers to the pro supers. I'll give you an example.

    Group commander: "Can you guys work in this cold?"

    Pro Super: "Sure."

    Group commander: "You're working 30/30 work rest cycle. Except for crew chiefs, they have to work 9 hours straight outside without breaks because God, Buddha, Mohammad, Ganesha, Zeus, Jupiter, and all lesser gods hate crew chiefs."

    Don't know a thing about government issue but my favorite is the the Sterns floation suit.
    It's also a life jacket but it's warmer than a Carhart.

    Flew across North Dakota today. Around noon and the outside temperature was a balmy -69 degrees at 35,000 feet.

    No, I wasn't driving.

    All of today's fliers are already on the ground. With this weather, it'd take me a minimum of 40 minutes to get to base.

    I let an Air Force guy talk me into going ice fishing at Devils Lake in Feb.
    I was colder than I have ever been.
    He even BBQ'd and it was down to -35.
    Living in ND will do strange things to common sense.[:)]
    My son was a crew chief at Whiteman.
    He's in the reserves at McCord now.
    He said you are right they all hates Crew Chiefs.
    That's why I was in the Navy. [:D]
