Where can I find Linux?

I'm incredibly bored and I want to try to run Linux on my laptop. Does anyone know what's a good place to download it from?

    just go to a distributers web site, most offer there system for free. I personally use opensuse, out of all the ones I tried it seems to be the most new user friendly out there. I use the live version of ver. 10.3.

    and just so you know Linux can be quite a pain with wireless network cards( which is probably what you use on your laptop) I'm not a expert myself and still haven't got it to recognize my card on my lap top, desktop runs perfectly though.

    I found ubuntu. I'm hoping that my laptop is going to run faster with Linux compared to XP.

    linux is just the kernel. You want a linux distribution.

    I recommend Ubuntu for beginners - the CD is "live" - you can boot to it and run the whole system just from the cd. Reboot and remove CD, and you are back to Windows. If you want to install it to your hard drive, it will resize it so you can have both windows and Linux.

    I'm dumping Windows all together. I'm using my laptop as a guinea pig. If I can figure Linux out and get it to work smoothly there, I might switch my desktop over as well.

    Well, Ubuntu should do it for you then... its what I use to teach my Intro to Linux course at the comm. college I work at, at least on the desktop. Server stuff is taught using Debian (which is what Ubuntu is based on).

    I have Fedora up and running on my laptop. Does anyone know how to install drivers on it? Specifically for a Belkin wireless card.
