Remington model 710

Hello, I am new to the site. I want to paint my 710 stock with krylon fusion satin black. Does anyone have a pic of a 710 with a black stock? Thanks.

    Why in the world did Remington make this piece of junk?

    Haven't owned one myself but know several that did buy a 710 and everyone has had problems with them. The plastic insert in the receiver that the bolt rides on gets sticky or ?? and the bolt binds up - useless junk other than for a jack handle.

    Any thoughts?

    And for what it's worth, I wouldn't think that painting your 710 would hurt the value of it any.

    Welcome to the madhouse.

    Not sure if any of us have pictures of 710 stocks at all.

    Just make sure you wipe the stock down with isopropyl alcohol or a good mineral spirit (just dont let it sit on the stock...slightly damp rag will do it). Then start with light coats and let them dry in between. I used a hanger hooked to my garage door track support to hang it from for spraying.

    I have used many rattle cans to paint stocks for varmint hunting. May not be pretty, but the coyotes and bobcats dont know that when they die. [:p]

    Imperial Wil-Bond is another good product to wipe down your stock with before painting. Available at Menard's type places.

    I have already bought a quart of acetone. will this work just as well?

    I also have some denatured alcohol.

    I wouldnt use acetone. That is used to take off fake nails...so I can bet it will do a job on the synthetic stock as well.

    The denatured alcohol might work. I have always used 70% isopropyl aclohol straight off the shelf of Wally World or any other store.

    Okay, thanks for that info...I know that the acetone will actually soften some plastics, so it might mess with the texture of the stock. Thanks to all of you for the info.
