Jack Daniels vs. Jeremiah Weed
I was a JW fan, but it's been years since I tried it. I got a hankerin' to go try it some more. drove all over town and finally found some. it's been a while since I tried Jack Daniels too, so I got a little 100mL for a kicker.

now, JW is a bourbon, and bourbon ain't my thing, but I always remembered Jeremiah Weed as being pretty dang good. well, it wasn't like I remembered it. way too sweet, like they dumped 1 cup of sugar in the bottle. yacch. reminds me why I don't like bourbon.
the jack, tastes too mediciny, but the aftertaste is like charcoal and it stays with you for a while. it's good. with a Barq's root beer chaser, there's a cinnamon aftertaste after about 20 minutes that you wouldn't get with either by itself.
I think if I had to make a choice, I'd rather get a 5$ 100mL of JD than a 10$ 750 of JW because of the flavor.
overall verdict: Jack Daniels for sure. it's probbaly the way whisky should be made, but if someone would do something with the first taste to make it more appealing, and keep the aftertaste, they'd have Jack Daniels beat.
gotta do some more research.

Never trust anything with a Screw top. Cept, Maker's Mark, course.0 -
That JW looks like a lot of headache! [:D] 0 -
Never heard of the Whiskey, but I've watched that Jeremiah movie with Robert Redford 0 -
The beauty of Bourbon is that they all taste different, but if you were to compare JW to whiskey you might compare it to Southern Comfort. I myself would trade the JD for Makers Mark as cubslover indicated or maybe upgrade to Basil Hayden, or something else with a cork. I myself prefer them straight (neat), no ice, no mix. But as our friend Dick said when he kissed the cow, "To each his own". 0 -
I prefer Vodka. Grey Goose or Belvedere if I have the extra money. But I will settle for Smirnoff. 0 -
Knob Creek. The older I get, the less I drink, but the better the quality. Gentleman Jack is very nice, and a bit cheaper, but you don't like that sweet taste.
When I get a wild hair, which is less often these days, it's Jim Beam yellow-label rye.0 -
Never a whiskey fan- of any variety (bourbon, scotch, etc.) If I drink it it has to be good or I will not enjoy it at all.
Pappy van winkle is pretty good. Glenfiddich. Jamesons is ok.0 -
Real bourbon is only made in Kentucky!!!! 0 -
Knob Creek works like no other for me. 0 -
I rarely drink hard liquor, but if I do it's usually Jim Beam Black.[^]

I used to drink JD, back before I knew better. I went to Jim Beam. Then came Bookers, Knob Creek, PVW, Wathen's, Blanton's and Wild Tukey Rare Breed. Not necessarily in that order. My all time favorite is MAKER'S MARK. If you haven't tried MAKER'S MARK and you have a taste for bourbon, get yourself the smallest bottle you can and try it. I have never heard of Jeremiah Weed. 0 -

Bingo! Might as well compare JD to Southern Comfort and say the SC is too sweet.
JD is Tennesse sour mash, made the same way as bourbon, but only whiskey distilled in Bourbon county Kentucky can be called Bourbon. I like the JD single barrel, but if we are talking Jack Black I would rather have 12 year old George Dickel.0 -

You sure about that?
Woodford Reserve begs to differ0 -
I have given up Uncle Jack, Cousin Jim and Brother George for their smoother and more refined relatives....Single Malt Scotch. Love em all even the lowland peaty varieties.
Older I get less I drink. One bottle can last years.
Keep the bourbons bring on the Scotch.0 -
Scotch, a fine whiskey filtered through ancient gym socks.[xx(] 0 -
Only Tequila for me. 0 -

There are no known distilleries in Bourbon county, KY anymore.
Too be called a straight bourbon....
1. It must be made in the US.
2. It must be made of a grain mixe that is at least 51% corn
3. It must be distilled a max of 160 proof.
4. It must be 100% natural (nothing other than water added to the mixture)
5. It must be aged in new, American, charred oak barrels.
6. Bourbon that meets the above requirements and has been aged for a minimum of two years, can be labeled as Straight Bourbon.
Bourbon aged for a period less than four years must be labeled with the duration of its aging.0 -
Templeton Rye. Good stuff. 0 -
And not all Bourbon is made in Kentucky. The A. Smith Bowman Distilling Company, makers of Virginia Gentleman Bourbon, is in Virginia- which is where the FIRST Bourbon was made- at Berkley Plantation. 0
