ANOTHER INCONVENIENT TRUTH
These are some rather eye-opening facts: Since the start of the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, the sacrifice has been enormous. In the time period from the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 through now,
we have lost over 3000 military personnel to enemy action and accidents. As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces
is, consider the following statistics: Here are verified actual annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed
forces from 1980 through 2006:

If you are confused when you look at these figures...so was I.
Do these figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in
the Middle East is LESS than the loss of military personnel during Mr.
Clinton 's presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war?
And, I was even more confused; when I read that in 1980, during the
reign of President (Nobel Peace Prize) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392
US military fatalities!
These figures indicate that many of our Media & Politicians will pick
and choose. They present only those 'facts' which support their
agenda-driven reporting. Why do so many of them march in lock-step to
twist the truth. Where do so many of them get their marching-orders
for their agenda?
Our Mainstream Print and TV media, and many Politicians like to
slant; that these brave men and women, who are losing their lives in
Iraq, are mostly minorities! Wrong AGAIN--- just one more media lie!
The latest census, of Americans, shows the following distribution of
American citizens, by Race:
European descent (White) ....... 69.12%
Hispanic ................................... 12.5%
Black........................................... 12.3%
Asian ........................................... 3.7%
Native American ...................... 1.0%
Other ............................................ 2.6%
Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in
Iraqi Freedom:
European descent (white) ..... 74.31%
Hispanic ................................ 10.74%
Black ....................................... 9.67%
Asian ....................................... 1.81%
Native American .................... 1.09%
Other ...................................... .33%

What is the breakdown between combat fatalities and death from accident, disease, etc. Your statistics have no real meaning without this information. Also, there are thousands of maimed and disabled military personnel as a result of Iraq and Afghanistan. You state that the media would have us believe that minorities are being killed at a disproportionate rate. I don't recall reading or hearing that statement being made by any journalist of consequence. What we do hear is that children of privilege often do not serve while the working class provides the bodies.
Is it your point that the 3,000 plus fatalities (you ignore the 20,000 plus wounded) is really no big deal?
As to your question regarding why the MSM doesn't print statistics like this: What good are they and what does it mean? Most of the MSM are toadies for the rich and powerful.0 -

The number of US combat deaths in Vietnam in 2007: 0, 2006: 0, 2005: 0, 2004: 0, 2003: 0, 2002: 0, 2001: 0, 2000: 0.....
Notice the trend since we came to our senses and left Vietnam? The biased media also did a wonderful job of ignoring the massive protests here in the streets of America when it was announced that we were leaving Southeast Asia, the marches deamnding that we go back to finish the job, as well as the tens of thousands of US troops who had to physically forced onto outbound aircraft as they screamed "We have to stay to finish the job we started" and "President Nixon, don't pull us out now, we are too close to victory"!0 -

I agree that those numbers don't have as much meaning without some specifics on what types of deaths were involved.
However, I do think it indicates something. The public tend to think there are NO military deaths when we are not at war. That is a false assumption.We lose many military personel each year during training exersises, on duty accidents and other related causes. I for one consider those meaningless deaths. Those are the real tragedy. At least in wartime some value (though many may debate that)can be attributed to a death. If a certain percentage of our soldiers are going to die I'd rather see it happen on the battlefield, where it has meaning, than on base. Of course the true tragedy isn't even the deaths but the wounded and injured if the opponents of the war and news media had a clue they would be emphasizing the number of injured instead of the number of dead.0 -

These are excellent points. Not sure I can support the conclusions, but these are excellent points.0
