Its even better when the register works and tells them how much change to give you and they still get it wrong.

There is a sign on a few McDonalds around here asking people not to give exact change since the register workers, many of whom speak no English, some of whom speak no language, can only tell how to complete a sale by the button with a picture of a $20 on it. It is not even safe to pay with a $5 or a $10 bill.

I tried giving them like $5.50 for a $5.32 bill once and it took 3x as long. Now I just order by number, no changes, and pay with a $20.

a while back i caused a hardees to come to a screeching halt, i ordered the 2 sausage and egg biscuit special for 2.22, i asked if i could buy a cup of gravy, the kid grabs the monitor with both hands, and starts looking for it on the menu, he then turns around and ask the cook, he has no ideal how to dispense the gravy, they discuss it for a minute, then call over the manager on the p.a. he tells the manager, he then looks over the register for a key for the gravy, the cashier tells him, he already looked, and cannot find it, then he turns and asks the cook do we sell just gravy, he shrugs he doesn't know, the manager turns to me ans says "sorry" i don't know what to put it in, or what to charge because there is no key for it

i wanted to put out my hands, and ask him just pour a ladle in here i will give you a dollar, but i seen that i caused enough damage already

    That's great 1911!!
I think the bottom line is the government is making the younger generation into robots(George Orwells 1984)so we/so they will just follow orders without objection and be totally lost without them. They know better than to try and brainwash us baby boomers.
Yes a mindless generation is well on it's way.[xx(]

You will do what your told when you are told and if you are not told you will not know what to do.[:(!]

And a good manager would have hit the "extra cheese" key on the register a couple of times and would have put it in a styrofoam coffee cup so it would stay warm. Morons. I worked in a McDonald's as a second job when I was a teenager and as a second job between my 2nd and 3rd year of college. I wouldn't have even ASKED the manager on that one. What are they going to do? Fire you for keeping a paying customer happy?

Why blame them?...Why lower yourself to a 2 year old by calling names?...it is, after all, the dumbing down of America....The kids cant help the education they receive....Your heroes, the sports stars of America all receive high dollar 6 and 7 figure incomes and most cant read the contract they sign....

heck they sell biscuits and gravy with the gravy on the side in a bowl if you want it that way, i guess that's why they have pictures of the menu on the cash register

my order comes to 3.15 allot, i give them a five dollar bill, and a quarter, when they give me back my 2.10, i look at them and say, "i thought you said it was 3.15", they then think my change was 3.15 for a minute, you can just see the domino effect in action

I like to wait untill they put the $20 into the register and then give them the cents. I do it just to screw with them, but I always count my change

That's why I use cash. I'm tired of waiting in line when the card swipe doen't work. Then the look on the face of the user is astounding, as they try it again. Cash well there's no mistake except when trying to calculate change. Just what our government want's...is for us to wait for them to tell us what to do next.

It's a no win situation either way you look at it.[:D]

    Yes, actually, that's a possibility.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I worked in a Del Taco (along the same lines as Taco Bell). We had a script we were supposed to follow. When saying "Welcome to Del Taco...." we were next supposed to suggest whatever the "special" menu item of the day was. And, once the cutomer had placed his/her order, we were supposed to suggest add-ons (even if one of the add-ons, say a side of beans, was part of the person's order). I wouldn't. I figured out real quick that people preferred being greeted sort of informally, particularly the construction crews that were part of our regular lunch business, and the construction guys in particular DID NOT care to have their meals suggested to them. My manager got the brilliantly unprofessional idea of chewing my butt in front of customers one day, for not following the script -- when one of the people waiting to be served told him they liked my way better than the script, the manager puffed himself up and said (I s--- you not), "If you and Mike don't like our policies, sir, he can open a restaurant and you can eat there. This is how things WILL be done at Del Taco!"

No surprise to anyone here, those places don't respect their paying customers any more than the people hired to do their McJobs. And what happened to me was quite awhile ago -- things have gotten worse.

True story. Going thru the drive thru early one AM, biscuit and cuppa coffee. Came to $1.25. Looked at my change- had a quarter, and a Susan B. Anthony one dollar coin. Never again. At least 10 minutes of total, utter chaos, confusion, and anarchy followed. Would have been a LOT funnier IF I had gotten to drink my coffee first....[:p] No caffeine+stupidity= intolerable.
