So the goverment wants to implant a chip into every cow, horse, pig, etc. I think that sucks!

I thought the idea was that a bunch of producers wanted to sell meat and market food safety. For instance, you can take a bottle of beer. If there was a problem with that bottle, it can be traced back to the day it was made, who blew the bottle, who inspected the bottle, who packed the bottle, and when it was shipped.
Yet, a meat packer cannot tell squat about beef. When was it packed? Where did it come from? Where did it go. Suppose some meat was found to be tainted mad cow came across the boarder and enters the food supply, it is untraceable.
The big meat packers and the USDA also doesn't want small packers to market accountability as a selling point here. A small packer wanted to test every steer for mad cow and sell it to Japan. The USDA had a cow. They couldn't allow it because it went against the national policy that claims our meat supply is safe.
Japan wants it. Actually, Japan has it. They can trace a fish back to the day it was caught and who caught it.0 -

When you sell livestock at auction they have your info there who bought and who sold. You don't need a chip in every animal that the owner has to pay for. 0 -
Last I heard, the Bush admin was against Identity Preserved meat. 0
