Anyone own a Sig 556 rifle?

I think I'm going to buy one. I've been back and fourth on different guns to pick up lately.

I've been traveling alot, and working hard so I want a new toy.

It's really hard to buy another shotgun. I have alot. It's really hard to buy another handgun. I am a little short in the black rifle department and my RRA DCM AR-15 may be on permanent loan to my younger brother (he's had it for a year now).

I think this will do.


Any negatives out there on them?

Pros?

    If you want to really give yourself a treat and I mean a REAL treat, listen up.

    A few years ago, ( I own a lot of guns) I decided I wanted something really different but extremely accurate for varmiting and prairie dog shooting in Wy.

    I finally decided upon the Blaser R93 LRS2. I got both the 223 and 22-250 barrels at the time as I had been shooting both in my Rem 700s. I scoped both barrels with Leupold 8.5 X 25 50MM and once sighted I have never had to make an adjustment with either barrel no matter how many times I interchange.
    I bought mine through Sig at the time.

    It is the best choice and decision I have made on a rifle in many years if not ever.

    Look them up. Not cheap but worth every single penny.

    My sister-in-law is using the 223 for BR competitions and my bro, her husb has worked up some incredable ammo for her and at 61 yrs of age and bran new to BR shooting, she is holding her own and winning a few in her class or group with that gun, out of the box.

    It is fun to shoot and absolutely dead nuts accurate.

    Just some food for thought if you want quality and to be different all at the same time.

    I've got 2 ... one a very early production and the other was built last October.

    Early models had issues with the scope rail being slightly canted which was corrected quickly. Overall its a very nice unit and never any reliability issues. Plus, the cost for the whole gun is the same or less than the cost of a piston driven AR upper alone!

    Being very happy with the first one, I bought a second one as a
    Christmas present to myself ... and to personalize a bit.

    Couple of improvements on the later production; the pistol grip was re-designed to fit the trigger guard better, and the hand-guard mounting points a bit heavier ... also has a folding front sight and a BUIS that pops up from the picatinny rail ... and it comes with a little red-dot (which I haven't used). The front sight can be used with any aftermarket AR rear sight. The one I'm using is Hayes Research that uses the HK diopter.

    We have them listed at work for $1200 on up.

    Yep I have seen them here in two gun store I think they were $1295, how are they compared to regular ARs?

    Different by quite a bit. They are gas-piston systems, side bolt charge.

    Take AR mags, bolt release, and mag release are in the same spot. Ambi-safety.

    etc.... I don't think they feel or look as good as an AR, and the flip-up sights are very crude. Definitely something that will need some optics of some sort.
