What do you Carry?
What type of pistol do you open carry? I am not going to buy a Glock, so don't list any of those. Im kind of thinking a 1911 or S&W M&P, but I have not shot an M&P yet. It will be in a hoster on my hip. Also an all day every day carry. Also looking at what I think is a Beretta 92 in .40. I shot one one time and liked it, but I only shot about two rounds out of it. Any one have any imput on this gun? . Any sugestions?

Have carried a few in the past. Currently carry an XD 45 compact and love it. Nothing negative to say about it. Not a big fan of snub nose revolvers, just not my cup of tea. Had a Kimber Ultra Carry but the XD proved to be more dependable. 0 -
A North American Arms stainless steel .22 cal. 5-shot derringer in my pant pocket everytime I leave the house. It's loaded with hollow points, not a big gun, but it will kill ya just as dead as a bigger caliber. 0 -
...Depends on where I'm going. Could be a Glock 22 in .40, Star PD in .45, S&W 37 Airweight, Walther P-22, Colt Junior .25 or whatever I'm in the mood for. Of course, this being Illinois, I would never actually carry outside my property....[:D] 0 -

in additon to the model 60, i also carry a CRKT M16-04Z and a Surefire E2E. One should always have a good knife and a good flashlight on or about their person at all times.0 -

I was allways told to never use your own handloads in a defense weapon. A attorney may look at it like you were "looking" to "murder" someone.

I carry a Sig 239-one spare mag. Generally.
I also carry a Walther PPK-s (that I want pearl or ivory grips for) as formal wear.0 -

Glock 23 in a Don Hume in the pants leather holster, or sometimes carried in a Fobus paddle holster. Also been known to carry a Ruger SP101 (2 inch .357) in a bianchi belt holster. My preference is the Glock. 0 -
On Duty I carry a Sig-228 9mm.
Off duty it is a Kimber Pro-Carry II in 45 ACP.

I carry my kids some...on my shoulders.
My baby girl loves to be up there as we wind through a crowd of people. I reckon that she likes the power of being up in the world with the rest of the big people.
My middle child is very independant and would rather walk about and explore things on his own. He is going to be quite a man when he grows up as he is smarter and braver that most.
#1, my 7 year old rode miles on my shoulders as he taught me to be a parent and as he got older would require less and less attention while on daddy's shoulders. His balance and agility are well developed and he amazes me with his coordination.0 -
I have thre guns I carry regularly, though not at the same time. My preferred carry is a Para 12=45. Reason: it holds twelve in the mag and one in the pipe. Also, it's a .45. I bought the gun uses at about 600 bucks.
Second favorite is also a .45, a Llama Minimax .45. I know what most of you think about Llama, but this one has never failed me. It shoots anything I feed it and it hits where it's aimed. New, the gun was about 200 bucks.
Last regular carry is a Taurus PT 911, 9mm. I bought it when 10 rds was max available; have since gotten a 15 round mag, (which is the same size as the 10 rounder). New, the gun was about 500 buck. Cost is higher than you would expect because it is the one with the gold plated fixtures and faux pearl grips; beautiful gun. Paid more than I should have, but I really loved the picture of the gun and just had to have it. Plain blue PT 911 runs around 350 bucks, last I looked.0 -

Have three:
Favorite carry is Smith 637 ,38+P snubnose alloy-frame revolver with the stock "boot" grips.
You can pick your favorite "flavor" (eg .38 vs .357, hammer vs. hammerless, blue vs stainless vs alloy, etc), but IMO these small wheelguns are the perfect compromise between size, power, reliability and weight for concealed carry. I like the hammer for the ability to get off an accurate single-action shot at distance if I need to.
Unfortunately its just a shade too big for routine pocket carry, so most of the time when I carry its a Kel-Tec 3-AT in .380ACP. This one is super-lightweight, but not that powerful, and not that reliable, though still a lot better than nothing (or something smaller like a .25ACP).
Very rarely (and basically only if I'm going someplace "bad") I'll carry a Smith p99 in 9mm with tritium sights. Not pocketable, but still pretty light for a full sized auto, reliable, and with more power and higher capacity than the other two.
I also don't bother with a reload. I'm not getting in a gunfight with a crack gang. If my problem isn't "solved" with 16 shots of 9mm+P, more ammo isn't going to help me.0 -
my everyday carry is an xd .45
however, if its a dress occassion, then i break out my fathers colt 70 series 1911(stainless, (or nickel)) anyway it looks good so its for dress sentimental reasons too.0 -

Forgive me for being skeptical, but I doubt you are making a full 1100 fps from that pistol with that ammo. Did you chronograph that speed?
Stingers have the reputation of being the "hottest" of the .22 rounds, but that's mainly true from a rifle, not from a short barrelled pistol. Its because the Stingers use light bullets and slow-burning powder to make their speed. From a short barrel, the slow powder isn't fully exploited, meaning less of an advantage.
Don't take my word for it. Here is chronograph ballistic data from NAA, for their 2" barrelled "black widow" .22LR revolver. In comparison, your 61-2 has a 2-1/8" barrel:

Note that not only do the Stingers not make the highest velocity out of the field of tested .22 rounds (that honor goes to the Remington yellow-jackets), but NONE of these tested rounds get significantly over 1000fps from a 2" barrel.
As a side issue, I find it especially interesting that some of the nominal "target" rounds yield ballistics similar to nominal "high velocity" rounds.
Back on defense uses, especially with such a small round as a .22, penetration is critical. You're probably more likely to get it with a slower heavier bullet, than a faster lighter one.
In particular, the CCI Velocitors average 909fps with a full 40gr bullet, while the Stinger will get you 1000fps with only a 32 grain bullet. Assuming they reliably cycled the gun, personally I'd trade off 10% more velocity for 25% more ballistic mass. Do the math, and the Velocitors yield slightly more muzzle energy AND more momentum (eg "power factor").0 -

I am a rural hayseed, and do not carry concealed. Yet, anyway. I have an Old Vaquero under the truck seat, in .45 lc. My wife has two carry guns, a .38 S&W snubbie and a Kimber .45 acp. Different tools for different jobs. 0 -
