ok iim supposed to look at the remington today and have teh money on hand to buy
but iv been checking the auction side and wanted to know what the dif. if any is between the reg. adl and deluxe adl ??

    My gunshop in Sweden has the 700 VS in stock, how good is it compared to the PSS and 40X?
    He cannot order the PSS and the 40X is pretty expensive!
    Looking for a accurate rifle up tp 600m!

    In light of the recent attempt by CNBC to torpedo Remington. I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and purchase a Remington 700. M 700SPS in .300 win mag. I think I did alright!

    I have been useing Davids 30-06 but since he is right and I am left... well it is a good reason for me to buy my own. My birthday is this month so guess what I am getting myself.

    Ok so here is the question...

    30-06, 270 or 7mm? I will be useing it for deer mostly. I have a 30-30 I use hog hunting. Those who have these... give me the pros/cons please.

    I have a older model 700, & I think it may be a pre 64 but I'm not sure, serial # 36_ _ _ _ does someone out there know? help

    Sent one back to have the safety modified/upgraded. They were slow but ok to deal with.

    Safety mod? Are you talking about the older 700's that had to do with being able to apply the safety when the bolt was not in the cocked position? Or is this a newer thing?

    Whats the safety issue all about? Mine is a 1968 700 BDL .30-06,
    is this one of the rifles that needs to be modified?

    I think he is talking about the safty causing the gun to fire when it is dissengaged.

    IMHO, that wold be a safety issue rather than a 'mod". That, or someone's been playing around in the trigger.

    Yes on both counts. Sent two older 700s back to the factory to have the safety modified so the bolt could be opened in the "safe" position. Older style had to be in "fire" position to open the bolt. I didn't consider it a safety issue until on of them started to fire the moment the bolt was closed when it was VERY cold. Sent them both back to be looked at and they sent them back with the new safety. No charge but it took a while.

    I was talking about an older gun. To unload it you have to put in "fire position" to open the bolt. Never had any problems with the gun, just getting cautious in my old age.
