Syclone!!

Zebra brought up the Syclone in another thread and I didn't want to hijack the thread.

This was my ultimate dream truck and I still want one!

Basically in 1991 GMC made about 3000 AWD Turbocharged Sonomas. Good for 280HP and 360ft-lb of torque.
Equalling 0-60 in 4.6sec and 1/4mile of 13.4s at 98mph!

Hopefully the next "syclone" isn't too far away. There is internet rumors that the Colorado/Canyon will recieve the 5.3 V8 this year. The H3 is built on the frame of the C/C and will in fact be getting the engine, so it stands that it could be workable in the C/C.

If they do make this truck I may just have to get one. I have only had two driving vehicles in my life. 85 S-10 and my truck right now, a 94 S-10, I guess I need to keep the tradition going.

I will take one in standard cab, short bed, 4wd Z71 with 3.73 gears please!!!

    Syclone/Typhoon payload: 500 pounds.

    I doubt people buy these to haul the trash, but damn! Fuel it up, add a pax and a picnic basket and you're about maxed out.

    Still, fun to play with.



    I've heard the Colorado shares it's ancestor's propensity for overheating, and a 5.3L probably wouldn't help.

    I wanted one when they 1st came out, but could'nt afford them at the time [:(!]

    Did you ever see the Video of the little GMC beating a Ferrari GTS 308 in the 1/4 mile twice? Those Ferrari people were pretty darned mad![:D]

    I think GMC claimed 280. I think it was closer to 320 at the flywheel.
    I think the Silveraro SS is a better looking truck through.

    I'll probably get alot of heckling for this, but I still find the Buick Grand National one of the most sexiest smooth gracefully lined cars ever built for its time..

    Zebra, youll get no laughs out of me about the Grand National. And your absouletly right about it, the lines on that car are sexy!

    I went to look at the GN when it came out - I stopped at the extra sticker - Price: $19,999, Dealer Markup: $40,000, Final price: $59,999...and it still had the plastic dashboard, the poor body panel fit, and so on. Just too "boy racer" for me.

    I nearly bought a Grand National in the late 80s.........a call to my insurance agent solved that thinking! It was something like $500, per month, for me. Just for the insurance! :(

    A rediculously low mileage GN (1000 miles) is going for $14k, a Very low mileage GNX (8000 mi) is going for $25k.

    A little Known factoid is that the FBI has a small fleet (50+/-) of the GNXs.
