Background check for buying trash?
I bidded on an old broken 3,000 watt generator at www.govliquidation.com
To my surprise I won. Now this is where it gets silly. They labeled the generator as demil'd and require a DLA Form 1822 to perform a background check on me before I can pick up my junk....says on their website it can take up to 45 days...I expect twice that.
Think I'll cancel my credit card so they can't charge me and forget about it.
A rusted out 3,000 watt generator is not a national security item...and shouldn't be classified as DRMS demilled b/q property.

Bidding on government surplus items consitutes a contract. You don't really want to break that contract. they can make life hard on you in the future in financial issues. 0 -

I've been reading thru the Commerce Control List and can't find a 3,000 watt rusty generator anywhere's.

It used to be that you just had to be a American citizen.
Then they contracted out selling government crap.....some company took it over.....Iran started getting F-14 parts.....Congress got mad..........now they require background checks for the stupidest things.0 -
I beg your pardon, but you will get run for wants and warrants when you go on base. It may not be a "background check" but they will run your name to see if you have any warrants. I went through that when I picked up my Army son at Ft Lewis the other day. 0 -

It used to be your son would get you a visitors pass...all they needed to see was a govt. id to verify an identity.
