Dept of Children and Family arrested.....porn
Dept. of Children spokesman charged with producing child porn
Tallahassee, Florida - A spokesman for the Department of Children and Families was summarily fired Friday night following his arrest on charges of producing child pornography.
Al Zimmerman, DCF spokesman since March of 2005, was arrested in Lakeland and taken to the Hillsborough County jail for booking, authorities said.
He faced a judge Saturday morning and learned that on Monday he will have a No Bond hearing. The courts feel he could be a threat because of his access to children.
Investigators said he solicited at least two victims between the ages of 16 and 17 to perform lewd acts which he used to create child pornography.
Zimmerman's arrest was announced in Tallahassee by State Attorney General Bill McCollum.
He said the investigation involved the state's CyberCrime Unit, the FDLE, Tampa Police, DCF and FBI.
"The alleged actions of Mr. Zimmerman are a betrayal of trust to this Department, its employees, and the people we serve," said DCF Secretary Bob Butterworth. "We know the children and families of Florida rely on us to protect them, and in taking that responsibility, we pledge to keep them safe."
Butterworth said he has asked for a thorough investigation to determine if any child in the state's care had been victimized by Zimmerman.
If convicted on all charges, Zimmerman could be sentenced to a maximum of 120 years in prison, McCollum said.
Zimmerman had one prior arrest, for obtaining property in return for worthless checks, in Tampa in 2003 when he worked as a reporter for Bay News 9.

sad aint it...but the best place to look for a pedaphile is any where there are kids...like at schools and any child welfare departments are..there have been a few sick meanies arrested here while they were employed as teachers...schools are happy hunting grounds for child molesters...the same as child protection departments!, thank god that there are a lot of decent people employed at these places though, they at least know the signs to look out for with these predators. 0 -
